In this tutorial micromine we have discussed previously about "How To Create New Data File". And now i'll try to discuss "How To Modify File Structure"

In micromine you can add and delete fields from a file at any time. If a field contains data when you delete it, the data will also be deleted. To add field to a file or delete from a file, use the Modify File function.

For this example i use Collar Data File (previous tutorial) and i want to add new fields for East_Grid, North_Grid, and RL_Grid. Do the following steps:

1. Open file Collar Data File (File --> Open). If you cant see your Collar Data, make sure that File of Type is set to DATA. After you OK, window File Editor will be appears.

2. Press F6 or click icon Modify Structure or open File --> Modify File.

3. Position your cursor in Azimuth, and press Ctrl+i, or open Record --> Insert Records from menu.

4. Insert 3 in the Insert Records dialog (because you want tu add East_Grid, North_Grid, and RL_Grid fields), and press OK

5. Add the values in the table
--example--
East_Grid -- Type : R -- Decimal : 3
North_Grid -- Type : R -- Decimal : 3
RL_Grid -- Type : R -- Decimal : 3

6. When you completed the process, the file structure should look different and your new fields are inserted in your file structure.

7. After finished, Close the window File Editor, and Save.

Maybe usefull for your practice.

To Be Continued . . .
